2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Sal Frelick recorded a three-hit game as Italy beat the Netherlands 7-1 on Sunday to advance to the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals. The 30th-ranked overall prospect per MLB Pipeline, Frelick also recorded two RBI and scored a run in the winning effort. The 22-year-old outfielder is hitting .389 with a .977 OPS for the tournament and is putting himself in line for an MLB promotion in 2023, if he wasn't already. Frelick raked to the tune of a .365 average with four home runs, nine stolen bases and a .943 OPS across 46 games at Triple-A in 2022, his third minor-league stop of the season. With Tyrone Taylor to begin the season on the injured list and Garrett Mitchell dealing with a hamstring issue, Frelick's MLB debut could come sooner than later in 2023.
