One mid-tier driver to keep an eye on during Sunday's United Rentals 500(k) at Phoenix Raceway is Chris Buescher. He finished 10th in this race one year ago, and in the three previous March races at Phoenix, he ended up 18th, 17th, and 16th. This weekend, Buescher will start from the 21st starting spot on Sunday, but his #17 Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing Ford showed decent long-run speed during the practice session on Friday. In that practice, Buescher ranked 11th-fastest in 20-lap average, right behind his teammate, Brad Keselowski (who qualified 4th). On the shorter, flat tracks last season, Buescher ranked 16th in average speed. He finished 3rd and 15th in the two Richmond races last year, too, which is the track that compares the best to Phoenix.--Jordan McAbee
