2 years agoWith the injuries to New York Yankees starting pitchers Carlos Rodon (forearm) and Frankie Montas (shoulder), it's reasonable to assume that both Clarke Schmidt and Domingo German will start the 2023 season in the starting rotation. General manager Brian Cashman mentioned Deivi Garcia among those who could provide depth. Schmidt is the more attractive option for fantasy managers after he had a 3.12 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 57 2/3 innings last year, mostly in relief. Between the big leagues and minors, Schmidt had 102 K's in 90 2/3 frames, so the strikeout upside is there. German appeared in only 15 games (14 starts) for the Yanks last year due to a shoulder injury, and he had just three quality starts while showing another drop in velocity.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
