Jack Flaherty To Make Spring Debut Sunday
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that right-hander Jack Flaherty's Grapefruit League debut will come this Sunday instead of Saturday due to "lower-half discomfort." Flaherty's injury isn't considered serious. The 27-year-old's fantasy stock has fallen considerably in 2023 after he made just nine appearances (eight starts) for the Red Birds last year due to a right shoulder ailment. In his 36 innings, he had a 4.25 ERA (4.97 FIP), 1.61 WHIP and career-low 19.8 percent strikeout rate. Flaherty is likely to have some workload restrictions in St. Louis this year, and he's thrown only 190 2/3 innings in the last three years combined, so he's a pretty risky fantasy starter. RotoBaller has him ranked at No. 68 among starting pitchers this year.
