Nestor Cortes To Throw Live BP Friday
2 years agoNew York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes (hamstring) said that he did pitcher's fielding practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a hamstring strain and felt good. He will throw live batting practice on Friday and might get into a Grapefruit League game for the first time next week, likely on Wednesday. The 28-year-old southpaw starter strained his right hamstring early in camp and has been working his way back since, but he still has plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day, as long as he doesn't have any setbacks. Cortes made his first All-Star team in 2021 and figures to be a key piece in the Yankees' starting rotation yet again behind aces Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon in 2023.
