Wil Myers Scratched With Back Stiffness
2 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman/outfielder Wil Myers (back) was scratched from the Cactus League game on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics due to lower back stiffness, according to the team. Alex McGarry will take over at first base for Myers. For now, consider the 32-year-old Myers to be day-to-day. Myers is in Cincinnati in 2023 after spending the previous eight seasons with the San Diego Padres. He hit .261/.315/.398 with a .713 OPS, seven home runs, 41 RBI and 29 runs scored in only 77 games in 2022 due to a knee injury. Myers will be playing every day with the rebuilding Reds and can provide a bit of pop in a hitter-friendly home ballpark, but he'll be nothing more than outfield depth for fantasy managers.
