Padres Agree To Deal With Rougned Odor
2 years agoThe San Diego Padres agreed to a minor-league deal with free-agent second baseman Rougned Odor on Wednesday. Odor has already reported to major-league spring training and will try to make the Padres' stacked roster for Opening Day. The 29-year-old left-handed slugger had three 30-homer seasons for the Texas Rangers in 2016, 2017 and 2019, but he had just 13 long balls while hitting .207/.275/.357 with a .632 OPS, 53 RBI, 49 runs scored and six stolen bases in 135 games for the Baltimore Orioles last year. Odor is a free swinger as well, so he's unlikely to hit for a decent batting average. If he makes the Padres roster, he'll be a left-handed power bat off the bench and nothing more.
