Mike Yastrzemski Scratched Tuesday With Right Knee Soreness
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (knee), who was expected to start in center field against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday, was a late scratch due to right knee soreness. Manager Gabe Kapler said that the Giants are not overly concerned and are simply proceeding cautiously with Yastrzemski. Bryce Johnson started in Yastrzemski's place. Yastrzemski came out of nowhere as a fantasy contributor in 2019 and had a solid 2020 season, but his average has dipped since then. He slashed .214/.305/.392 with 17 home runs, 57 RBI, and five steals in 2022. While he has not been able to sustain his early-career success, Yastrzemski's production makes him a fantasy consideration in five-outfield leagues, assuming he's healthy.
