After posting two 1,000-yard seasons in his first three years in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, wide receiver Kenny Golladay signed a lucrative contract with the New York Giants. Heading into the 2021 season, Golladay inked a four-year $72 million deal to be the Giants' No. 1 wideout for Daniel Jones.
However, he hasn't come close to his production in Detroit during his first two seasons with the G-Men, so his future with the team is in jeopardy.
Did the Giants release Golladay and what is next for the 29-year-old pass-catcher? Let's dive in.

Was Kenny Golladay Released By The Giants?
After posting just six receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown on 17 targets in 2022, Golladay will be released by the Giants when the new league year begins on March 15th. Despite losing Sterling Shepard and Wan'Dale Robinson to torn ACLs and trading away Kadarius Toney, Golladay was unable to find a role in Brian Daboll's offense, so his time with the team is over.
Golladay totaled just over 600 receiving yards in 26 games in New York, so the move to save $6.7 million against the cap makes sense. Now, Golladay will be free to sign with any team this offseason.
What's Next For Golladay?
Despite Golladay's lackluster production in New York, there will surely be a few teams interested in bringing him in on a cheap deal. The 2019 Pro-Bowler and receiving touchdowns leader could find a role in a new offense, but there's little to no chance he's a fantasy football or "real life" stud ever again.
Instead, he could serve as a big-bodied red zone target in an offense that already has firepower at receiver and won't count on him to be a true No. 1 wideout or volume receiver. After failing to see the field over the likes of Darius Slayton, Richie James, and Isaiah Hodgins, it's difficult to imagine him as even a WR2 for a team.
Ultimately, he won't have much fantasy football value regardless of the landing spot, but he could help an NFL team if he carves out a role as a physical possession receiver.
