Eric Haase To Get More Catching Reps
2 years agoDetroit Tigers catcher Eric Haase is expected to see an increased workload behind the plate in 2023. After the Tigers let Tucker Barnhart walk in free agency, it cleared a path for Haase to fill in as the starting catcher. The only catcher on the current roster other than Haase is 27-year-old Jake Rogers, who isn't a perennial major-leaguer. Haase made 84 appearances behind the plate in 2022 and even saw some outfield reps. He slashed .254/.305/.443 with 14 home runs and a .748 OPS. His bat has developed into a legit threat since going pro in 2018, and the Tigers may consider him in the long run if his bat continues to contribute. Haase will mainly be a flier in deep-league formats for 2023.
