The Pittsburgh Steelers turned the page in 2022. For the first time since 2005, Ben Roethlisberger wasn’t the opening-day starting quarterback for the Steelers.
Instead, Mitch Trubisky started Week 1 for Pittsburgh in their win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, the Steelers lost six of their next seven games, including four straight. However, things turned around after the bye week.
Pittsburgh won seven of their final nine games to end the regular season. Their only losses came to the Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, the Steelers just missed the playoffs. Following their 9-8 performance, Pittsburgh will have the 17th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

What Are The Pittsburgh Steelers Biggest Needs On Offense?
The Steelers are in an excellent position heading into the draft. They sent Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears at the trade deadline for a second-round pick. That draft pick will be the 32nd overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh will have three picks in the top 50 this year.
After drafting Kenny Pickett in the first round last year, the Steelers need to improve his offensive line. Left tackle Dan Moore Jr. gave up seven sacks and 39 pressures last year. Pittsburgh needs to upgrade at the left tackle position. Furthermore, the team can release right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor this offseason and save up to $10 million in salary cap space.
One potential draft target is Paris Johnson Jr. The former Ohio State left tackle is arguably the best offensive tackle in the draft this year. He would be the team’s new starter at left tackle, allowing them to move Moore to the right side.
What Are The Pittsburgh Steelers Biggest Needs On Defense?
Over the past few years, the Steelers have had one of the best defenses in the NFL when T.J. Watt is healthy. They held their opponents to fewer than 18 points in eight of their final nine games last year. However, the team has a massive hole at cornerback.
Cameron Sutton is a free agent this offseason. Even if he returns, Pittsburgh still needs help at the cornerback position. One potential draft target is Joey Porter Jr.
The former Penn State star is the son of former Pittsburgh great linebacker Joey Porter. More importantly, the cornerback was one of the best in college football last season in press coverage.
With Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Amari Cooper in the division, the Steelers can’t have too many good cornerbacks.
