Ezequiel Tovar Ready To Start At Shortstop
2 years agoDespite being just 21 years old, Colorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar appears ready to earn a starting role with the team. Manager Bud Black said Monday, "his overall wherewithal mentally is going to enable him at a young age to potentially be our shortstop." Tovar only had 35 plate appearances with the Rockies at the end of the 2022 season, but he hit well during the season at Double-A Hartford, batting .318 with 13 home runs, 47 RBI, and 17 stolen bases in 66 games before suffering left hip/pelvis inflammation. Tovar's average and speed skills, plus the potential for his power to play up in Coors Field makes him an intriguing fantasy option in both dynasty and redraft leagues this season. His current draft position of 251 makes him a worthwhile mid-to-late-round pick.
