The Dallas Cowboys had a 12-5 record in 2022. While they had the fourth-best record in the conference, the Cowboys were the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs.
However, the team had a drastically different outlook after Week 1. Dak Prescott suffered a thumb injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, knocking him out for several weeks. Yet, the team won all but one game without its franchise quarterback.
Following their second-round exit from the playoffs, Dallas will have the 26th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

What Are The Dallas Cowboys' Biggest Needs On Offense?
The Cowboys head into the offseason with two critical free agents on offense. Running back Tony Pollard had a career year in 2022. Reportedly, the team will place the franchise tag on the star running back this offseason.
Their other top free agent is tight end, Dalton Schultz. Dallas placed the franchise tag on the star tight end last year. While his numbers were down from his career year in 2021, the veteran tight end will still be a top free agent this offseason if he hits the open market.
Given the team's salary cap situation, Schultz has likely played his last game as a member of the Cowboys. While Dallas spent a fourth-round pick last year on Jake Ferguson, that shouldn’t stop them from adding a top tight end in the draft this year.
One potential target is Utah’s Dalton Kincaid. The star tight end had a career year in 2022 with 70 receptions for 890 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Furthermore, his route-running ability is arguably the best among tight ends in this year’s draft class.
What Are The Dallas Cowboys' Biggest Needs On Defense?
Unlike on offense, the Cowboys have several upcoming free agents on defense. Thankfully, none of them are critical parts of the unit. However, they have multiple linebackers set to hit the open market next month.
One potential draft target is Arkansas’ Drew Sanders. The former five-star recruit started his career at Alabama as an edge rusher. After two years with the Crimson Tide, Sanders transferred to Arkansas in 2022. He had a career year, totaling 103 tackles and 9.5 sacks. Furthermore, his 103 tackles and 9.5 sacks ranked in the top five among SEC players last season.
