Robbie Grossman Heads To Rangers
2 years agoFree-agent outfielder Robbie Grossman signed with the Texas Rangers on Friday. The New York Post's Joel Sherman reported the deal is for one year and $2 million. Grossman comes to Texas after a disappointing 2022 campaign for the Detroit Tigers and Atlanta Braves. He hit a combined .209/.310/.311 with a .622 OPS, seven home runs, 45 RBI, 40 runs scored and six stolen bases in 477 plate appearances and 129 games. The 33-year-old veteran switch-hitting outfielder will look to bounce back in Texas, but he'll face plenty of competition for playing in left field this spring. Unless Grossman improves drastically against left-handed pitching, he'll have a platoon role, at best, with his new squad. A career-high 27 percent strikeout was mostly to blame for his 2022 struggles.
