The Cleveland Browns have undergone several changes in the past 12 months. A year ago, Baker Mayfield was the starting quarterback. Meanwhile, the team didn’t have a starting-caliber wide receiver on the roster.
First, Cleveland traded for Amari Cooper in a salary cap dumping move by the Dallas Cowboys. Then they traded multiple draft picks, including three first-round selections, to the Houston Texans for Deshaun Watson.
Despite their two blockbuster offseason additions, the Browns ended the year with a 7-10 record. Furthermore, they missed the playoffs for the 20th time in the past 22 years.

What Are The Cleveland Browns Biggest Needs On Offense?
Most of their starting offense from last year is under contract for next season. However, their top need is wide receiver. Unfortunately, the Browns won’t have a first-round pick until the 2025 NFL Draft as part of the Watson deal.
The good news for Cleveland is that this year’s draft class is deep at the wide receiver position. There are plenty of receivers who can help the team as a rookie. One of those prospects is North Carolina’s Josh Downs.
Over the past two years, the Tar Heel star had 195 receptions for 2,364 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. Furthermore, Downs averaged 12.3 yards per reception in his college career. More importantly, he can make game-changing plays on all three levels.
Pairing Downs with Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones would give Watson an explosive trio of wide receivers for next year.
What Are The Cleveland Browns Biggest Needs On Defense?
The Browns have a massive need at linebacker. Cleveland has several linebackers hitting the open market next month, including Anthony Walker Jr. Furthermore, Jacob Phillips is a free agent after the 2023 season.
One potential draft target is Oregon’s Noah Sewell. The Duck linebacker had 218 tackles in his college career, including 20.5 for a loss.
Another need for the Browns is edge rusher. Myles Garrett is one of the best in the NFL. Last year he had 16 sacks, the second most in the NFL and a career-high. However, Jadeveon Clowney is a free agent and won’t be back next year.
