Royals Sign Franmil Reyes To Minor-League Deal
2 years agoThe Kansas City Royals signed free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Franmil Reyes to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes a non-roster invite to major-league spring training, according to sources. The former Cleveland Guardian hit 30 home runs in 2021 but finished last year with the Chicago Cubs and hit a combined .221/.273/.365 with a career-low .638 OPS, 14 home runs, 47 RBI, 43 runs scored and two stolen bases in 473 plate appearances in 118 games played. Reyes had a career-high 37 bombs with the Guardians and San Diego Padres in 2019, so there is clearly a lot of power in his bat. The 27-year-old will need to make a lot more contact, though. His best opportunity in Kansas City will likely be as a platoon DH.
