Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders has had an up-and-down NFL career. Over the first two years of his career, the former Penn State star averaged 171.5 rushing attempts for 842.5 yards and 4.5 touchdowns per season.
Unfortunately, he had a disappointing 2021 season. While Sanders averaged a career-high 5.5 yards per rushing attempt, the former Penn State star had zero touchdowns.
However, the former second-round pick bounced back in 2022. Sanders ended the year with 259 rushing attempts for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns, all career highs. More importantly, he was the RB13 last season, averaging 12.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.

Will The Eagles Re-Sign Miles Sanders?
Coming off their Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles have several free agents this offseason. Offensively, Sanders and starting guard Isaac Seumalo are free agents next month. Meanwhile, Philadelphia has several defensive starters scheduled to be free agents this offseason, including Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, James Bradberry, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
Unfortunately, the Eagles don’t have the cap space to bring most of them back. Furthermore, Jalen Hurts is up for a massive contract extension this offseason that will impact the team’s salary cap for the next several years.
Philadelphia wants to keep Sanders, but their salary cap situation will make it difficult. If the two sides can agree to a team-friendly deal, the running back could return in 2023. However, the former Penn State star is more likely to find a better off on the open market.
Which Teams Could Sign Miles Sanders This Offseason?
One potential landing spot is the Carolina Panthers. They recently high Duce Staley as their running backs coach. Staley spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons in Philadelphia with Sanders.
After trading away Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers, the Panthers used D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard as a 1-2 punch in their backfield. However, Foreman is a free agent, and Hubbard struggled with injuries last year.
Adding Sanders would give Carolina an upgrade at running back and a potential three-down player. While he had only 20 receptions last year, the former Penn State star averaged 34.7 receptions per year over the first three seasons of his career, including 50 as a rookie with Staley on the coaching staff.
