Sixto Sanchez Has Lost Almost 50 Pounds
2 years agoMiami Marlins right-hander Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) said that he has progressed to throwing bullpen sessions and has lost 46 pounds this offseason. Sanchez said he's feeling physically stronger and hopes to land a spot on the team's Opening Day roster. Forty-six pounds is a lot. The 24-year-old had shoulder surgeries the last two years and hasn't thrown for the Fish since the shortened 2020 season. Given the long layoff, it would be somewhat of a surprise to see him in Miami's Opening Day rotation, but we'll get a better look at him during spring training action. It's anyone's guess as to what Sanchez will provide in fantasy in 2023, but he had plenty of upside before shoulder issues temporarily derailed his young career.
