The 2023 NFL Draft class is loaded with talented running backs. Texas’ Bijan Robinson is the superstar of the class and could be a top-10 pick.
However, Alabama’s Jahmyr Gibbs is the second-best running back in the class. Even though some believe using a first-round pick on a running back is a mistake, the Alabama star is a first-round talent.
Whether Gibbs ends up getting drafted on Day 1 is debatable. However, the Alabama running back will be a star regardless of where he gets drafted.

What Did Jahmyr Gibbs Do In His College Career?
Gibbs started his career at Georgia Tech. Over his two years with the team, the running back had 232 rushing attempts for 1,206 yards and eight touchdowns. Gibbs also had 59 receptions for 768 receiving yards and five touchdowns during his time at Georgia Tech.
When Alabama lost Brian Robinson Jr. to the NFL, Gibbs saw an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. The running back turned into a superstar in his lone season at Alabama. Gibbs had 151 rushing attempts for 926 yards and seven touchdowns. He added 44 receptions for 444 receiving yards and three touchdowns in the passing game.
While the stats are impressive, Gibbs’ performance on the field is more important. The Alabama running back will be an elite weapon in the NFL, thanks to his quickness and excellent vision. Whether on the ground or in the receiving game, Gibbs will be a problem for opposing defenses.
Which Team Could Pick Jahmyr Gibbs In The 2023 NFL Draft?
Reportedly, Gibbs was told that he will be a late first-round pick. That makes sense, given the number of teams in the 20s who could use a running back.
One potential landing spot is the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Mixon had a down year in 2022, averaging only 58.1 rushing yards per game and 3.9 yards per rushing attempt. The 58.1 yards per game average was the lowest of Mixon’s career since his rookie season. If the Bengals decide to move on from the veteran running back, they can save up to $10 million.
Another potential landing spot is the Minnesota Vikings. The team is currently over the salary cap and could release Dalvin Cook. If the Vikings release the star running back, they could open up to $11 million in salary cap space.
