The 2023 NFL Draft class is full of talent. While everyone has focused on the quarterbacks, the running back position is the deepest in the draft this year.
While he isn’t a first-round prospect, UCLA’s Zach Charbonnet will be an excellent mid-round pick for some NFL team.
The former Bruin star running back had a productive four-year college career.

What Did Zach Charbonnet Do In His College Career?
Charbonnet started his college career at Michigan. In two years with Wolverines, the running back had 850 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 18 games. After the 2020 season, he transferred to UCLA and became a star.
In his first year with the Bruins, the running back had a career-high 203 rushing attempts for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns. Despite his productive year, Charbonnet returned to UCLA.
Last year the star running back averaged seven yards per rushing attempt. Charbonnet had a career-high 1,359 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns last year. He was also impactful in the passing game, totaling 37 receptions for 321 receiving yards, both career-highs.
Furthermore, the UCLA star was one of the highest-graded running backs by PFF in 2022.
Which Team Could Pick Zach Charbonnet In The 2023 NFL Draft?
Because the running back draft class is extremely deep this year, Charbonnet will likely be a mid-round draft pick. He could get picked on Day 2 or early Day 3. Regardless, the UCLA star is a hard-nosed runner who doesn’t give up easily.
Charbonnet would be a welcomed addition to every NFL team, as you can never have too many talented running backs. However, landing with the Green Bay Packers would be an ideal landing spot for the former UCLA star.
Green Bay enters the offseason with several questions. If Aaron Rodgers gets traded, Aaron Jones will likely be on his way out the door too. While AJ Dillon is a starting-caliber running back, the Packers love a two-headed approach in the backfield.
Pairing Charbonnet with Dillon would give the team the 1-2 punch they’ve used the past few years with Jones and Dillon. Furthermore, Charbonnet could take on a larger role in 2024 when Dillon is scheduled to hit the free-agent market.
