The NFL world has changed over the past several years. With the NFL becoming a pass-first league, having a reliable backup quarterback is critical. One of the top backup quarterbacks is Jacoby Brissett.
When the Cleveland Browns traded for Deshaun Watson last offseason, they immediately signed Brissett, knowing Watson would get suspended. The veteran came through for the team, with the franchise quarterback missing the first 11 games this year.
Brissett has bounced around the NFL in his seven-year career. He was a third-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2016. After only one year with the team, the Patriots traded the quarterback to the Indianapolis Colts. Following his time with the Colts, Brissett spent a year in Miami before joining the Browns last offseason.

Is Jacoby Brissett A Free Agent In 2023?
In his 11 starts this year, Brissett completed 64% of his passes for 2,608 yards and 12 touchdowns. Furthermore, the veteran quarterback added 243 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 2022.
After signing a one-year deal last offseason, Brissett will hit the open market again in March. He joins a long list of solid backup quarterbacks hitting the market this offseason.
While some of the available free-agent quarterbacks are starting caliber, Brissett should be the most coveted backup on the market.
Which Team Will Sign Jacoby Brissett In The Offseason?
The veteran quarterback will have plenty of options this offseason. He showed the ability to start this year with his play in Cleveland. In addition to his productive passing numbers, Brissett displayed solid running ability too.
Every team in the NFL should want Brissett on their roster. He has plenty of starting experience and is also an excellent locker-room presence. Furthermore, the veteran is arguably the best backup quarterback in the league.
Any team that drafts a rookie quarterback should make an aggressive offer to Brissett. He can begin the year as the starter until the rookie is ready to take over. Furthermore, the veteran is the ideal mentor to younger quarterbacks.
A return to Indianapolis should be in play for the quarterback. Many expect the Colts to use their first-round draft pick on a quarterback. If they do, Brissett would be the perfect mentor and bridge-gap starter until the rookie is ready.
