Former second-overall pick Mitch Trubisky was signed to a two-year deal by Pittsburgh in the 2022 offseason with the hope that he would be a bridge quarterback for the franchise.
Trubisky lasted just over three games before he was pulled for rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett, and was only inserted back into the lineup when Pickett was injured.
Following his lone disappointing season in Pittsburgh, Trubisky faces an offseason where he could be looking for his fourth team in four seasons.

How Did Mitch Trubisky Perform in 2022?
Trubisky opened the season as the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers and won his first start in overtime against the Cincinnati Bengals.
He proceeded to lose the following two games and was benched midway through the Week 4 game against the New York Jets, but returned in Week 6 in relief of an injured Pickett in a win over Tampa Bay.
Trubisky started two more games on the year due to a Kenny Pickett concussion and went 1-1, losing to Baltimore but beating Carolina.
On the year, the former NVP went 117-for-180 for 1,252 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions.
Will Mitch Trubisky Be Released By The Steelers?
As we enter the offseason, talks of Trubisky potentially being released by Pittsburgh have heated up.
The Steelers would save $8 million in cap space by letting the backup quarterback walk.
With fellow backup quarterback Mason Rudolph being an unrestricted free agent this offseason, Pittsburgh would find itself in limbo at the quarterback position if they were to cut Trubisky.
They will likely look for a trade partner for Trubisky before cutting him, but there may not be a team willing to take on his $8 million contract along with giving up an asset in the process.
Trubisky is a prime candidate to be a cap casualty this offseason, however Pittsburgh could dig themselves a hole at quarterback by letting him go.
Owner Art Rooney stated that he expects Trubisky to be on the roster as the backup next season, but with the opportunity to save $8 million right in front of Pittsburgh’s eyes this may not be the case.
