San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has had plenty of ups and downs in his time with the team, but he could be moving on to a new franchise for the 2023 season.
It's going to be a wild offseason with the futures of Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers, and maybe even Lamar Jackson hanging in the balance, so figuring out where each veteran quarterback will land this offseason will be a challenge.
Is Garoppolo's time in San Francisco up and which teams could be interested in signing the 31-year-old signal-caller? Let's find out.

Is Jimmy Garoppolo a Free Agent in 2023?
Garoppolo signed a one-year contract with the 49ers back in August and will enter unrestricted free agency this offseason. According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, there is no scenario in which Garoppolo returns to San Francisco. Shanahan also mentioned that the 49ers are confident in their ability to win with either Trey Lance (ankle) or Brock Purdy (elbow) under center.
Garoppolo was solid in his time on the field this season and is likely to find a new home as a starter in the coming months with multiple teams in need of a quarterback.
Which Team Will Sign Garoppolo?
There are a ton of landing spots that make sense for Garoppolo heading into the 2023 offseason. The Tennessee Titans could be interested, as they just signed the Niners' former Director of Pro Personnel Ran Carthon to be their General Manager.
It's debatable whether or not Garoppolo would raise the ceiling of the team beyond what Ryan Tannehill has accomplished, but Tannehill is a cap-saving cut candidate this offseason and Garoppolo's deal would likely be cheaper. Even if Garoppolo is just a bridge quarterback for Mike Vrabel's squad, the move makes some sense.
Alternatively, the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, or Carolina Panthers could be interested in bringing in Jimmy G. A realistic scenario is any of those franchises signing Jimmy G., but also drafting a quarterback in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft. It's unknown if any team truly believes Garoppolo can bring another team to a Super Bowl, but he'd be a solid bridge QB who could outperform expectations like Jared Goff has done.
Other potential landing spots include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders, and Las Vegas Raiders. Those three teams have solid rosters all around, but again, it's debatable whether or not Garoppolo could raise the ceilings of the offenses in those spots.
