The Kansas City Chiefs had a 14-3 record during the regular season and earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. While Patrick Mahomes deserves plenty of credit, the team wouldn’t have made the Super Bowl without Travis Kelce.
After their first-round bye, the Chiefs faced the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional round of the playoffs. They earned a 27-20 victory as Kelce had a historic performance. The future Hall of Famer had 14 receptions on 17 targets for 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Kansas City then faced the Cincinnati Bengals with a trip to Super Bowl on the line for the second straight year. Unlike last year, the Chiefs came away with a 23-20 win. Kelce was again outstanding, with seven receptions for 78 receiving yards and the first touchdown of the matchup.

What Did Travis Kelce Do This Season?
If he wasn’t a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer before the start of this season, Kelce is a lock now. The superstar tight end was unstoppable all year, leading the team in every receiving category. Furthermore, he ranked third in the NFL in receptions (110), eighth in receiving yards (1,338), and second in receiving touchdowns (12).
Kelce was so dominant that he had 24 more receptions and 424 more receiving yards than any other tight end this season. The superstar tight end made several impressive touchdown receptions this year, including last week against the Bengals.
Will Travis Kelce Win The Super Bowl MVP?
According to PointsBet Sportsbook, Kelce has the second-best odds to win Super Bowl MVP at +2200. The only two players with better odds are Jalen Hurts (+110) and Mahomes (+125). The odds aren't surprising, as a quarterback tends to win the award most years.
Over the past 16 Super Bowls, a quarterback has won the MVP award 11 times, including two of the past three years. However, a wide receiver has won the award two of the past four years, including Cooper Kupp a year ago.
While a tight end has never won the award, no one should be surprised if Kelce is the first to do it.
