Dexter Fowler Announces Retirement
2 years agoOutfielder Dexter Fowler announced on Tuesday he's retiring from the league in a tweet. Fowler appeared in 14 Major League seasons, playing for the Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, and Houston Astros in his big league career. The 37-year-old's best year at the plate arguably came in 2016 when he won a World Series title with the Cubs. That year, the outfielder hit .276 with a .393 on-base percentage, 13 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 84 runs scored, 48 RBI, and a 129 wRC+ in 551 plate appearances. For his career, Fowler hit .259 with a 358 on-base percentage, a 19.5 fWAR, 127 home runs, and 149 stolen bases in 5,902 Major League plate appearances.
