The Philadelphia Eagles had a 14-3 record during the regular season and earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. Leading the team to the top seed in the conference was quarterback Jalen Hurts.
After their first-round bye, the Eagles faced the New York Giants in the Divisional round of the playoffs. They came away with a 38-7 win over their NFC East rivals. Hurts had 154 passing yards and three total touchdowns in the victory.
Philadelphia then faced the San Francisco 49ers with a trip to Super Bowl 57 on the line. Unfortunately, the 49ers didn’t have a healthy quarterback for most of the matchup. Meanwhile, Hurts had a quiet performance in the team’s 31-7 win, totaling only 121 passing yards and a rushing touchdown.

What Did Jalen Hurts Do This Season?
In his second year as the starting quarterback, Hurts was an MVP favorite until he suffered a shoulder injury in Week 15. The former Oklahoma star completed 66.5% of pass attempts for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, all career-highs.
Furthermore, he had a 1.3% interception rate. Not only was the 1.3% interception rate a career-best for the quarterback, but it was also the fourth-lowest rate in the NFL this season.
More importantly, Hurts was a two-way superstar for the Eagles and fantasy players this year. The former second-round had 760 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns during the regular season. He finished first among quarterbacks in rushing touchdowns and second in the NFL overall.
Furthermore, Hurts set the NFL record with 15 rushing touchdowns by a quarterback this season, including the playoffs.
Will Jalen Hurts Win The Super Bowl MVP?
According to PointsBet Sportsbook, the Philadelphia quarterback is the favorite to win Super Bowl MVP this year at +110. Right behind him is Patrick Mahomes at +125. Those odds aren't surprising, as a quarterback tends to win the award most years.
Over the past 16 Super Bowls, a quarterback has won the MVP award 11 times, including two of the past three years. However, a wide receiver has won the award in two of the past four years, including a year ago. Cooper Kupp was the eighth wide receiver to receive the award last year, totaling eight receptions for 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hurts should be the Super Bowl MVP if the Eagles win the game.
