years agoOttawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg had a strong showing on Friday, leading his team to a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 30-year-old netminder made 31 saves on 33 shots. He's starting Saturday due to Cam Talbot being out. Talbot left Thursday's contest against the Islanders due to a lower-body injury. Forsberg will face the Canadiens, who are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss against Detroit on Thursday. The backup netminder has yet to play against Montreal this season, but he is 3-2-0 in his last five outings.--Andrew Lennox - RotoBaller

months agoOttawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg got back in the win column on Sunday in his victory over the New Jersey Devils. The 32-year-old netminder stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced. His lone blemish came in the second period when Tomas Tatar scored his fourth goal of the season on a backhand. Forsberg entered this contest with a poor 0-2-1 record with a .861% SV and a 3.63 GAA over his previous three games. In addition, Leevi Merilainen has taken over the starting crease as he made five straight starts following Forsberg's three-game losing streak. However, after Forsberg's bounce back on Sunday, he may begin to see more starting opportunities. For now, fantasy managers should continue to expect Merilainen to see the majority of starts, as he has posted a stellar 1.57 GAA and .940% SV over his past five games.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

months agoOttawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (lower body) has been activated from Injured Reserve ahead of Thursday's matchup against Dallas. He's set to dress as the backup goalie for the game. The Swedish netminder has missed six games due to a lower-body ailment. Forsberg will likely return to game action on Friday as Ottawa completes a back-to-back against St. Louis. Through 11 starts, Forsberg is sporting a 4-6-0 record with two shutouts. He has allowed 2.95 goals per game while registering a .889 save percentage. There haven't been any recent updates on Linus Ullmark (back), so we might see Forsberg a lot this month in the Senators crease. Leevi Merilainen, who is 2-1-0 for the campaign, will start on Thursday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

months agoOttawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (undisclosed) will not be with the squad as the team begins a nine-game road trip with Tuesday's visit to Seattle. Forberg was scheduled to start Saturday's matchup against Pittsburgh, but he tweaked something prior to the game and is forced to miss some time. The 32-year-old has managed two shutouts in 11 starts this season but carries a losing record. He has gone 4-6-0 with a 2.95 goals-against average and a .889 save percentage. Ottawa has called up Leevi Merilainen from the minors to work as Linus Ullmark's backup during Forsberg's absence.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

months agoOttawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg recorded a 22-save shutout over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday evening. This was Forsberg's second shutout victory of the season, and he now sits with a 3-2 record with a .910 SV% and a 2.65 GAA. Despite shutting the door twice, in his other appearances, he has allowed at least three goals in each of his other games, with a high of four goals in two. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Linus Ullmark to see the majority of starts going forward, but Forsberg could continue to earn a solid share of starts if he can find some more consistency. The 31-year-old netminder remains a low-end streaming option in a favorable matchup.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
