Raimel Tapia Signs Minor-League Deal With Red Sox
2 years agoThe Boston Red Sox signed free-agent outfielder Raimel Tapia to a minor-league deal on Thursday. The 28-year-old will be invited to major-league spring training. In 128 games for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2022, Tapia slashed .265/.292/.380 with a .672 OPS, seven home runs, 52 RBI, 47 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 433 plate appearances. He'll have a good chance to earn a bench role as depth in Boston's outfield, but he won't be attractive in fantasy outside of deep AL-only leagues. Tapia is best known for his speed -- he stole a career-high 20 bases in his final season with the Rockies in 2021 -- but he won't provide much at the plate (career-high nine homers in 2019).
