After the Seattle Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for a bounty of draft picks, everyone expected the team to struggle in 2022.
In every way too early 2023 NFL mock draft from May had the Seahawks picking first or second overall and taking a quarterback. Instead, Geno Smith had a career year this season, throwing for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns while completing 69.8% of his pass attempts, leading the NFL.
However, Seattle ended the year with a 9-8 record and made the playoffs as the final Wild Card seed. Unfortunately, they lost 41-23 to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, ending their season.

What Draft Picks Do The Seattle Seahawks Own?
Following the first-round exit from the playoffs, the Seahawks will have the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, they will also have the fifth overall pick from the Broncos as part of the Wilson trade.
Not only will Seattle have two top-20 draft picks in April, but the team will have three picks in the top 37 selections and four in the top 52. Over the past two years, the Seahawks have acquired four top-40 picks from Denver as part of the Wilson deal.
In total, Seattle will have nine draft picks this year. They have their two first-round and two second-round picks. The Seahawks also have a third-round pick and four selections on Day 3 of the draft.
Who Could The Seattle Seahawks Draft In The First Round?
While Smith is coming off the best year of his career, the Seahawks have to consider taking a quarterback with the fifth overall pick. The veteran quarterback recently turned 32 years old and is a free agent this offseason.
Seattle would love to get their hands on Bryce Young. Unfortunately, that won’t happen unless the team trades up to the No. 1 pick. However, they could potentially draft C.J. Stroud with the fifth-overall selection. Despite some speculation that the Ohio State star would return to school, Stroud declared for the draft yesterday.
With the 20th overall pick, the Seahawks could go with the best player available approach. However, if Georgia’s Kelee Ringo made it to that pick, he would be a slam-dunk selection for Seattle. The team values size and physicality at the cornerback position.
