The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had high expectations for the 2022 season. However, things didn’t go according to plan.
Tampa Bay dealt with injuries throughout the year. It started early as center Ryan Jensen suffered a knee injury on the second day of training camp. He missed the entire regular season before playing in last night’s Wild Card matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Despite the Buccaneers ending the season with an 8-9 record, they won the NFC South division and hosted a first-round playoff matchup. However, they lost 31-14 to the Cowboys on Monday night.

What Draft Picks Do The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Own?
Following their first-round exit from the playoffs, the Buccaneers have the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Overall the team has seven picks in the upcoming draft. They have all of their original picks except for a fourth-rounder. The Buccaneers traded it to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a draft-day deal last year. In addition to their original six picks, Tampa Bay also has the Indianapolis Colts’ sixth-round selection.
Who Could The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Draft In The First Round?
The Buccaneers have several needs this offseason, one of which is at quarterback, as Tom Brady is a free agent. Furthermore, the superstar quarterback has a no-tag clause in his contract, meaning he will hit the open market in March. At 45 years old, the future Hall of Famer could retire or sign with another team.
Depending on what happens at quarterback, the Buccaneers could trade up during the draft to select their next franchise signal caller.
However, the team has other needs on the roster. On defense, they will likely lose starting cornerback Jamel Dean in free agency. A potential replacement option is Georgia’s Kelee Ringo.
Another potential option is offensive tackle. Donovan Smith had an up-and-down 2022 season and is entering the final year of his contract. The Buccaneers can release the veteran offensive tackle and save nearly $10 million in salary cap space. If they move on from Smith, Georgia's Broderick Jones and Ohio State’s Paris Johnson Jr. would be excellent replacement options.
