Sam Howell Likely To Start For Commanders Next Season
2 years agoIn their pursuit of a new offensive coordinator, the Washington Commanders have reportedly been informing candidates that they would be working with Sam Howell as the starting quarterback next season. Howell took the field for his first career start in Week 18 and led the Commanders to a divisional win over the Dallas Cowboys. The rookie, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, demonstrated his ability through the air and on the ground as he scored both a passing and rushing touchdown in his regular-season debut. Howell began the season behind Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke on the depth chart, but Wentz is unlikely to remain in Washington in 2023 and Heinicke will enter unrestricted free agency this offseason.
