Starting his first season as a head coach with an 8-3 record, playoffs looked like a certainty for Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins. After another Tua Tagovailoa concussion and a five-game losing streak knotted the Dolphins at .500, their playoff hopes rested on the shoulders of rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson.
Thompson and the Dolphins ground out an 11-6 victory over the New York Jets. The Buffalo Bills pushed Miami through to the playoffs by defeating a divisional foe, the New England Patriots. On Sunday, Miami and Buffalo match up for the third time this year. The teams split their regular season series, 1-1.
Thompson limped off the field in Week 18 after landing awkwardly in the second half. Is Skylar Thompson injured? Will he play in Miami's AFC Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills? Let's dive in.

Skylar Thompson Injury News
The former Kansas State Wildcat landed on Miami's Wild Card injury report with an ankle injury. Thompson wasn't the only quarterback on the list: Tua is expected to be inactive for the third straight week, and backup Teddy Bridgewater was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice with a knee/finger injury.
Despite hobbling off the field midway through the third quarter, Thompson did not miss an offensive snap last week. Mike McDaniel didn't seem concerned, as neither Bridgewater nor Mike Glennon warmed up after the incident.
Miami's preseason third-string quarterback practiced in full in Wednesday's practice and there is no doubt that he will be active for Sunday's game. Skylar Thompson is expected to be under center against the Bills as the Dolphins aim for their first playoff win since 2000.
Is Skylar Thompson Injured or Playing in the Playoffs?
Skylar Thompson's injury sustained in Week 18 is classified as minor and he is expected to start this week. Teddy Bridgewater was active for Miami in Week 18, though he was not at 100%. It wouldn't be startling to see the veteran quarterback make an appearance against Buffalo.
Thompson has attempted over 100 passes this year and this could be his third start of the season. Miami is 1-1 in games where the 2022 seventh-round pick has started.
The rookie has thrown for one touchdown and three interceptions this year. The Bills have intercepted 17 passes this season and are riding a seven-game win streak into the playoffs. Sunday might be a long day for Skylar Thompson and the Miami Dolphins.
