Webb Simpson Hopes To Regain Form At Sony
2 years agoIt's been a sharp and dramatic decline for Webb Simpson over the last two years, as he's tumbled all the way down to 127th in the official world golf rankings. He's battled neck and back injuries, as well as a coaching change when he moved from his long-time instructor Butch Harmon to Cameron McCormick last year. If Simpson is going to find his form, it might be on this Waialae track on which he's been dominant throughout his career. He's scored top-four finishes in three of his last four Sony Open starts and has never missed a cut in 12 career starts on the short Seth Raynor design. The veteran is worth a look in DFS tournaments at his reduced price.

Webb Simpson Tries To Turn Back The Clock
2 years agoWebb Simpson won the Wyndham Championship back in 2011 and has enjoyed several nice runs at Greensboro. The reality is it has been an up-and-down 2023. The American golfer likely will not make the playoffs at 170th in the FedEx Cup points. However, Simpson can make some putts and keep the ball on the course. Even that putting ability has dropped below average (128th at -0.148 strokes gained). As for off the tee, that rank is worse at 176th. Simpson always can turn back the clock every so often. There was that tied for seventh at the Valspar so one never knows.

Webb Simpson Tries To Put PGA Nightmare Behind Him
2 years agoWebb Simpson had one of the worst PGA Championship experiences imaginable. Consecutive 77's landed him at +14 which dropped him back outside the top 150 in the FedEx Standings. Simpson won two majors what feels like a lifetime ago but did finish tied for second in 2019 at this tournament. It was held in Hamilton but that was a course where birdies could be had in bunches. Simpson shot -22 then. The course suits him well here and may make the American a viable long shot. Being paired with Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose could be a boost.

Webb Simpson Heads To Honda Classic Mired In Slump
2 years agoOne of the PGA Tour's most consistent performers for years, Webb Simpson has now been mired in an extended slump over the past 12 months. Simpson has missed the cut in seven of his last 10 starts and lost strokes total in all 10 of those outings. It's a far cry from the elite consistency he's known for. The Wake Forest alum hasn't teed it up in the Honda Classic since 2019 and did record a T5 in the 2018 edition of the Florida event. Despite his reputation and name recognition, the veteran's recent struggles take him out of serious fantasy consideration this week.

Webb Simpson Hopes To Find Form In Memphis
3 years agoWebb Simpson arrives in a familiar place in TPC Southwind. Simpson has recorded three straight top 15 place finishes in as many starts at this event. His best finish was second place in 2019. Simpson will try to lean on past experience to find form as he has struggled as of late. In his last three starts, he has two missed cuts and a 69th place finish. If he expects to contend this week he must improve his ball-striking. Simpson has lost strokes on approach in his last two starts. Due to his form, Simpson is one to avoid this week.
