Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 13 Include Montrezl Harrell, Victor Oladipo, Dennis Schroder, Naji Marshall

Week 13 fantasy basketball waiver wire pickups, adds, and sleepers for the 2022-2023 NBA season. Justin Carter recommends free agent targets in 9-category leagues.

Welcome back to RotoBaller's weekly fantasy basketball waiver wire column and schedule breakdown. How's this season going for you? Need some help with your team? Let's get you some!

The NBA season just keeps on chugging alone, and so does the fantasy basketball season. If you need to bolster your roster or turn around a downward slide, then let's find you some help.

These recommendations are mainly for 9-cat leagues, but if you play in another format, there's a good chance that the information here can still help you. We'll be looking at centers, forwards, and guards whose low rostership and upside make them ideal players to get onto your fantasy team. Our staff at RotoBaller has great insight and daily columns on how to improve your squad and tips to make your team successful, so be sure to check them out! Now, let's get prepared for Week 13.

9-Category Leagues - Waiver Wire Adds

This column is written based on H2H 9-category 12-team leagues. All players in this article are rostered at around 50 percent or less.

Montrezl Harrell, F/C - Philadelphia 76ers - 19% rostered

With Joel Embiid out with a foot injury, Harrell has stepped up. In the two games that Embiid has missed so far, Harrell had 19 points, five rebounds, and four blocks against the Pacers, followed by 17 points and four rebounds against the Bulls. You might want a little more rebounding from a player with center eligibility, but the points, blocks and field goal percentage can all be a big help until Embiid returns. We know for sure that Embiid is out on Sunday, so keep an eye on his availability as the week goes along, and keep playing Harrell until the Embiid situation changes.

Dennis Schroder, G - Los Angeles Lakers - 41% rostered

Schroder has been incredibly hot lately, scoring 20-plus points in three consecutive games, including a 32-point outing against the Heat. He's also made at least four three-pointers in each of those three games. His assist numbers being a little iffy are basically the one reason he isn't at the top of this week's list, but his scoring, threes and his steal upside—he's not always going to get you steals, but he can occasionally have one of those nights where he gets four of them—make him a strong addition.

Naji Marshall, G/F - New Orleans Pelicans - 40% rostered

Marshall has scored over 20 points in each of the last two games, and he's made at least one three in six consecutive contests, plus has five or more rebounds in three of the last four games. Basically, Marshall's filling up the stat sheet—I didn't even mention the six steals he has across the past two contests. As long as Zion Williamson remains out, Marshall should continue to get extra scoring opportunities, making him one of the most intriguing adds on the waiver wire.

Victor Oladipo, G/F - Miami Heat - 51% rostered

Oladipo has been shooting well, making 40% of his shots or better in four consecutive games, with double-digit scoring outputs in each of those contests as well. We're starting to see some vintage-looking Oladipo games, though it's hard to really know how sustainable this is at this point, because Miami has a lot of mouths to feed, and Friday's 26-point effort was aided by Tyler Herro's absence. He's worth a roster spot, though, because of how he's been playing, but with the caveat that on a fully healthy Heat team, we could see Oladipo slide down the rotation.

Tyus Jones, G - Memphis Grizzlies - 34% rostered

Tyus Jones has been playing really well, and he should be the No. 1 priority add if Ja Morant is out Sunday with the sore right thigh that has him listed as questionable. But even if Morant plays, Jones deserves to be more widely rostered. He's made multiple threes in four consecutive contests and has eight assists in three of those four games. He's probably the best source of assists on the wire right now, even if his scoring numbers tend to be a little inconsistent. He also adds upside in steals.

Kyle Anderson, F - Minnesota Timberwolves - 29% rostered

Last game, Anderson played 31 minutes for Minnesota, scoring 12 points and adding seven rebounds and six assists. Anthony Edwards exited that one early. Anderson's in a really interesting situation right now, where he's playing 30-plus minutes per night because of how banged up the Timberwolves are, which is something that likely won't continue forever. But at least for now, Anderson's a good source of points, threes and assists.

Max Strus, G/F - Miami Heat - 30% rostered

Struss is a good, cheap source of three-pointers right now. H's made three or more of them in four of the last five games, including Friday's 19-point showing against the Suns that saw Strus drain five threes. He's also added at least one steal in four consecutive games if you're looking for an addition that can help you in that category as well.

Torrey Craig, F - Phoenix Suns - 15% rostered

The Suns are dealing with some injuries right now, and on Friday that resulted in increased scoring opportunities for Craig, who had 17 points on 63.6% shooting to go along with nine boards and two threes. Until Cameron Johnson returns—which could be pretty soon, to be fair—Craig is a streaming option in deeper leagues.

Jaden Hardy, G - Dallas Mavericks - 4% rostered

Alright, let's have one really speculative add in this week's column. The Mavericks released Kemba Walker this week, opening up more minutes for rookie Jaden Hardy, who scored 15 points in just 15 minutes against Boston last week, then followed that up with 15 points on Saturday against the Pelicans in 21 minutes. With a growing role and Luke Doncic looking a little banged up, Hardy should at least be on the streaming radar on Sunday, and I think there's also long-term upside here for him, as he could capture a pretty big role off the Mavs bench.
