2 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies are working on a trade for Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto on Saturday, according to sources. The Phillies recently added veteran reliever/closer Craig Kimbrel to their bullpen, but it looks like they may not be done adding. Soto has been an All-Star for the Tigers each of the last two seasons as their primary closer. He had a career-high 30 saves in 2022 while also recording a 3.28 ERA (3.59 FIP), 1.38 WHIP and 22.8 percent strikeout rate in 60 1/3 innings. While the Phillies went with a closer-by-committee approach for the vast majority of the 2022 campaign, Soto would most likely become their primary closer if they were able to land him in a trade. As of right now, Kimbrel, Seranthony Dominguez and Jose Alvarado are the three primary options for saves in Philly's bullpen.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
