Lamar Jackson Injury Update
The Baltimore Ravens are taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18 in hopes to improve their playoff seeding, but they'll be doing so without Lamar Jackson. Jackson has been ruled out for a fifth straight game for the Ravens and his status for the playoffs is unknown.
It's not a positive sign that there doesn't appear to be any progress in Jackson's recovery from a knee injury he suffered in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Tyler Huntley, who is dealing with shoulder/wrist injuries of his own and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, is expected to start in Week 18.
If Huntley is unable to start, Anthony Brown would be next in line to start for the Ravens on Sunday. For those that still have something to play for in Week 18 or play DFS, J.K. Dobbins and Mark Andrews might be the only offensive players you want to use from the Ravens on Sunday.
Jalen Hurts Injury Update
The Philadelphia Eagles have been without Jalen Hurts for the team's last two games, but he appears to be trending toward returning in Week 18. Ahead of an important game against the New York Giants, Hurts is expected to start for the Eagles on Sunday.
Hurts sustained a sprained shoulder in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears and the Eagles have been cautious with their franchise quarterback. Amid Hurts' absence the last two weeks, the Eagles have lost two straight games and will either need to win on Sunday or get help to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Even though Hurts is expected to return, we may see fewer designed runs for the dynamic quarterback in Week 18. That being said, you can fire up guys like A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert with confidence on Sunday versus the Giants.
Trevor Lawrence Injury Update
Trevor Lawrence suffered a toe injury in Week 13 and he's been on the injury report for the Jacksonville Jaguars since. While he hasn't missed any games due to the injury, he is listed as questionable for Saturday's pivotal game against the Tennessee Titans.
Despite being listed as questionable for the fifth straight week, there isn't much concern with Lawrence missing Saturday's contest. Back in Week 14 against the Titans, the second-year quarterback registered a season-high 368 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
The Jaguars need a win to secure the AFC South title in Week 18 or they'll need help to sneak into the postseason as the No. 7 seed in the AFC. With the Titans being a pass-funneling defense and Lawrence's status being a non-concerning issue, Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram are all fantastic plays in Week 18.
Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update
The Miami Dolphins need a victory on Sunday over the New York Jets to secure a playoff spot, but they'll be doing so without their franchise quarterback. While he remains in the league's concussion protocol, Tua Tagovailoa has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup.
Tagovailoa sustained a head injury in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers, forcing the Dolphins to place him in concussion protocol for the second time this season. Teddy Bridgewater, who started in Week 17, is also questionable with a dislocated finger and Skylar Thompson is expected to start.
The Dolphins have made it clear that Tagovailoa's long-term health is more important than anything else, so his status for the postseason (if the Dolphins clinch a spot) is unknown. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are both viable in Week 18, though, temper expectations on their production if Thompson is under center.
Colt McCoy Injury Update
The Arizona Cardinals aren't in playoff contention in the final week of the regular season, so there's no need for them to rush Colt McCoy back from a head injury. Ahead of Sunday's matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, McCoy has been ruled out and David Blough will make his second straight start.
McCoy was expected to start in last week's game versus the Atlanta Falcons before he seemingly still had symptoms from a concussion he sustained in Week 15. Blough would make his first start since 2019 last week, completing 24 of his 40 attempts for 222 yards and a touchdown.
Besides McCoy, the Cardinals are also going to be without DeAndre Hopkins and James Conner on Sunday. So for those that play DFS, guys like Marquise Brown, Greg Dortch, and Trey McBride could be viable salary-relief options in a game the Cardinals are expected to be playing from behind.
Mike White Injury Update
The Jets were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 17 and they won't have Mike White available in the season-finale against the Dolphins. After losing to the Seattle Seahawks last week, it's been revealed that White was playing with five broken ribs and he's been ruled out for Week 18.
White made four starts for the Jets this season and he appeared to be the most competent quarterback on the roster. Instead of going back to Zach Wilson on Sunday, Robert Saleh has handed the keys to the offense back to veteran Joe Flacco, who started the first three games of the season.
While he'll miss Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins, White's future with the Jets is uncertain as he enters free agency. With Flacco set to start in Week 18, the skill players on the Jets are all viable as he's shown that he can put up decent numbers through the air.
