Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner has had a productive 2022 season. The veteran running back is the RB17 for the year, averaging 13.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
However, he has been on fire lately. Over the past seven games, Conner has averaged 17.9 fantasy points per game, scoring at least 12 points in every contest.
Furthermore, the veteran running back has taken on more of a workload since the Cardinals lost Kyler Murray to a season-ending torn ACL in Week 15. Over the past three weeks, Conner has averaged 15.7 rushing attempts and 4.3 receptions for 107 scrimmage yards per contest. More importantly, the former Pittsburgh Panther has been the RB6 during that span, averaging 16.9 fantasy points per game.

Is James Conner Healthy Or Injured?
Unfortunately, the veteran running back left last week’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth quarter with a shin injury. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Conner’s injury was nothing major. However, the former Pittsburgh Panther didn’t practice Wednesday with knee and shin injuries.
While he still has a chance to practice later this week, fantasy players should be ready to be without the veteran running back on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. The Cardinals have been eliminated from the playoffs and have nothing on the line this week. Unless Conner is 100% good to go or pushed to play, the veteran likely sits out the season finale.
What Running Back Should I Add Off The Waiver Wire?
Fantasy players should check their waiver wire for Zack Moss in case Conner doesn't play this week. The Indianapolis Colts running back is available in over 55% of ESPN leagues.
With Jonathan Taylor out for the year with a high-ankle sprain, Moss has taken over as the lead back for the Colts. Over the past three weeks, the veteran running back has played at least 59% of the snaps in every contest. Meanwhile, no other Indianapolis running back has played more than 32% in any game.
Last week, the former Buffalo Bill running back had 15 rushing attempts for 74 yards against the New York Giants, leading the team in both categories.
More importantly, the Colts face the Houston Texans in Week 18. They have surrendered 28.7 fantasy points per game to running backs this season, the most in the NFL. Furthermore, the Texans gave up 158 rushing yards and 43.8 fantasy points to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ backfield last week.
