Jalen Hurts Injury Update
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) did not suit up for the Week 17 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. However, the MVP candidate could get back on the field for the Week 18 matchup against the New York Giants.
Since the Eagles lost to the Saints, they'll likely need a Week 18 win to secure the NFC's No. 1 seed. It sounds like Hurts is doing well so he'll most likely be available if needed for Week 18. This is good news for fantasy managers who are playing for something in Week 18.
Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters on Monday that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) is not part of the team's QB plans for the Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Jets, while Teddy Bridgewater (pinkie) and rookie Skylar Thompson are. Tagovailoa remains in the concussion protocol after missing Week 16, while Bridgewater is undergoing tests on a dislocated pinkie finger on his throwing hand.
Fantasy managers should be fully expecting Tagovailoa to be out again this week, and the 24-year-old might not even be available if they make the playoffs after suffering his second concussion of the year. If Thompson makes his second career start against the Jets, it will be another fantasy downgrade for wideouts Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Lamar Jackson Injury Update
The Baltimore Ravens don't know whether quarterback Lamar Jackson (knee) will be ready to play in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, which could be for the AFC North title. Jackson has been out four straight games due to a PCL sprain on Dec. 4 against the Denver Broncos, and head coach John Harbaugh said he's unsure if Jackson will return to practice this week.
Harbaugh wouldn't answer if Jackson's status for the playoffs would be in jeopardy if he doesn't practice this week. Even if he doesn't play in Week 18, the Ravens would like to see Jackson return to practice this week. Backup Tyler Huntley has struggled to move the offense consistently in Jackson's absence, but he also has very little to work with outside of tight end Mark Andrews in the passing attack. Fantasy managers still playing for a championship shouldn't expect Jackson to return this weekend.
Nick Foles Injury Update
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles (ribs) will not play against the Houston Texans in Week 18. Interim head coach Jeff Saturday said Foles is still sore after taking a brutal hit against the New York Giants in the Week 17 loss.
Sam Ehlinger will make his third start of the season, with Matt Ryan serving as his backup. Ehlinger has completed 41 of his 66 passing attempts for 364 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He remains off the fantasy radar in single-QB leagues in Week 18.
Teddy Bridgewater Injury Update
Miami Dolphins quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (pinkie) suffered a dislocated pinkie finger on his throwing hand in the third quarter of the Week 17 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday and will undergo testing and imaging on Monday. The Dolphins hope that Bridgewater's finger isn't broken as well, but we'll know more soon. Tua Tagovailoa is still in the concussion protocol, so if Bridgewater cannot play in Week 18 against the New York Jets, rookie Skylar Thompson would likely be in for his second career start in a must-win game for Miami.
After taking over for Bridgewater on Sunday, Thompson went 12-for-21 for 104 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Stay tuned for more details on Bridgewater's and Tagovailoa's injury situations as the week unfolds.
Jarett Stidham Injury Update
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jarrett Stidham (elbow) was estimated as limited in Tuesday's practice. The 26-year-old debuted against San Francisco last week, putting forth an impressive performance that nearly earned the team a win. He committed two turnovers but threw for 365 yards and three touchdowns, producing a better fantasy output than Derek Carr has all year.
It's no guarantee he will repeat those numbers this week against the Chiefs but given the weapons he has at his disposal and the matchup, he becomes an intriguing streamer or QB2, especially when other teams will be resting or limiting playing time for their starters.
