What Did Jarrett Stidham Do In Week 17?
The former New England Patriots backup quarterback was acquired by the Las Vegas Raiders via an offseason trade. Stidham had attempted just 13 passes this season but received the starting nod in place of a benched Derek Carr last week against a tough San Francisco 49ers defense.
Stidham performed beautifully in his first start for the Raiders. The Auburn product outperformed even the highest of expectations against the Niners. He passed for a whopping 365 yards and three TDs, completing 23 of 34 pass attempts. Stidham also picked up 37 rushing yards and tossed one INT on the day.
Should I Pick Up Jarrett Stidham Off the Waiver Wire In Week 18?
It is hard to classify Stidham's Week 17 performance as anything other than totally shocking, as the inexperienced NFL quarterback took the helm of a previously-stagnant Raiders offense and put up 34 points against arguably the best defense in the league.
Stidham will get another chance to showcase his skills in a Week 18 divisional clash with the Kansas City Chiefs, as Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels has already named him the starter for the 2022 season finale.
If the youngster performs anywhere near his Week 17 output, he would be a viable fantasy consideration. Stidham is surrounded by talented players in the likes of Davante Adams, Darren Waller, and Josh Jacobs. He looked capable of getting them the ball in last week's explosive performance against San Fran. Those playing in fantasy leagues that are active in Week 18 can give Stidham a look in 2-QB and Superflex formats.
