Should I Pickup Tyler Conklin For Week 18?
Last week Conklin was a popular streaming option in Week 17, and he didn’t let fantasy players down. Conklin caught all six of his targets for 80 receiving yards against the Seattle Seahawks, ending the game with 11 fantasy points.
Conklin should be a popular streaming candidate again this week as he faces the Miami Dolphins. The division rival has given up 12.7 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, one of the highest averages in the NFL. Furthermore, they have struggled to slow down tight ends lately.
Over the past three weeks, Miami has surrendered 5.3 receptions for 71 receiving yards, one touchdown, and 15.8 fantasy points per game to tight ends. The Dolphins have given up double-digit fantasy points to tight ends in eight of the past 10 contests.
Meanwhile, Conklin has played well when targeted this season. In the eight games with six or more targets, the veteran tight end has averaged 9.3 fantasy points per game.
What Tight End Should I Target Off The Waiver Wire?
However, fantasy players might unable to get their hands on Conklin, as he was a popular streaming option last week. If the veteran tight end isn’t available, fantasy players should add Trey McBride. The rookie is rostered in only 3.3% of ESPN leagues.
The former Colorado State tight end has had a quiet rookie season, averaging only 2.8 fantasy points per game. However, he had the best game of his career against the Atlanta Falcons.
McBride had seven receptions on 10 targets for 78 receiving yards and 17.3 fantasy points last week against Atlanta, all career-highs. Furthermore, he scored his first NFL touchdown in Week 17.
This week the rookie faces the San Francisco 49ers. The NFC West division leaders have surrendered 13.9 fantasy points per game to tight ends over the past three weeks, giving up two receiving touchdowns during that span.
