The Minnesota Twins re-signed left-handed reliever Danny Coulombe to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training next year. Coulombe became a free agent in October when he refused an outright assignment to the minor leagues, but he'll return to Minnesota for the 2023 campaign. The 33-year-old southpaw had a lost season in 2022, undergoing surgery to fix the labrum in his left hip during the summer, so he ended up making just 10 relief appearances in the first half of the season. In his 12 1/3 innings, he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits while walking nine and striking out nine. Over eight seasons in the big leagues, Coulombe has a 3.92 ERA (4.02 FIP), a 1.31 WHIP, 80 walks and 179 strikeouts in 192 2/3 innings over 194 appearances (one start).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Free-agent left-hander Danny Coulombe agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal on Tuesday with the Minnesota Twins, according to a source. The deal also includes incentives. Despite missing a good chunk of the 2024 campaign with the Baltimore Orioles due to bone chips that required surgery, Coulombe had a strong 2.12 ERA (2.83 FIP), a 0.67 WHIP, one save, 32 strikeouts and only five walks in 29 2/3 relief innings for the O's last season. In his two years in Baltimore, the 35-year-old veteran southpaw reliever held a sharp 2.56 ERA (2.83 FIP), a 0.95 WHIP, three saves and a 90:17 K:BB in 81 frames. Coulombe will bring a lefty presence as a late-inning setup man to a strong bullpen that already includes Griffin Jax, Cole Sands and Brock Stewart in front of lights-out closer Jhoan Duran.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

According to Robert Murray of FanSided.com, left-handed relief pitcher Danny Coulombe is drawing interest on the market. Murray noted that multiple teams were interested in left-hander Taylor Rogers before he was traded to Cincinnati. As a result, Coulombe could be viewed as one of the top southpaws on the market. Last season with Baltimore, Coulombe posted a strong 2.12 ERA with a 0.67 WHIP across 29 2/3 innings. He struck out 32 batters and served up just five free passes. In 2023, Coulombe posted a similar 2.81 ERA and a 1.11 WHP across 51 1/3 frames with the Orioles. The southpaw consistently saw time as a high-leverage option in the Baltimore bullpen over the past two seasons. He would likely find a role as a setup man in 2025.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Danny Coulombe picked up his first save of the season in Monday's 2-0 win over the Yankees. Coulombe entered the game to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two and turned in a 1-2-3 outing with no strikeouts. Closer Craig Kimbrel (back) is currently day-to-day with back tightness, so Coulombe was called upon to close things out. The 34-year-old has pitched well this season with a 3.18 ERA, an 11.12 K/9 rate, and a 1.59 BB/9 rate in 11 1/3 IP. His fantasy value will remain limited without seeing routine high-leverage situations, but he could provide value in saves-plus-holds leagues if he ends up getting interim save opportunities.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Danny Coulombe was activated from the injured list on Thursday after missing a few weeks of action with left biceps tendinitis. The club optioned lefty Nick Vespi in a corresponding move. That's good news for the Orioles, as the 33-year-old has been dominant, pitching to a 2.77 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 48 punchouts across 39 innings. Coulombe only has one save on the season, but he's been a regular in late innings, collecting 19 holds, making him a decent option in hold formats.--Spencer Seguin
