Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner has had a solid 2022 season. Despite missing three games earlier this year, the Pittsburgh Steeler is the RB17 for the year, averaging 13.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Furthermore, the veteran is the RB10 for the year on a points-per-game basis among running backs with eight or more games played. His seven rushing touchdowns are the 14th-most in the NFL this season and the 12th-most among running backs.
More importantly, Conner has been unstoppable lately.

Is James Conner Healthy Or Injured?
Over the past four contests, the veteran running back has averaged 22.5 touches for 116.3 scrimmage yards and 19.5 fantasy points per game, scoring at least 16.6 fantasy points in every matchup. Furthermore, the former Pittsburgh Panther has at least one touchdown in six straight games.
However, he has missed the past two days of practice because of an illness.
While missing practice isn’t ideal, fantasy players shouldn’t panic yet. Conner could miss practice all week and still play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
If he plays, Conner is a must-start running back this week. He has been the RB4 over the past three weeks, averaging 19.5 fantasy points per game. Meanwhile, the Falcons have surrendered over 100 rushing yards to running backs in five of their past six contests.
Who Can I Add Off The Waiver Wire If James Conner Can’t Play?
Hopefully, Conner can practice tomorrow and end any doubt about his status for Sunday. However, fantasy players should have a backup option in place. One target on the waiver wire is Chuba Hubbard. The second-year player is available in over 70% of ESPN leagues.
Last week the Carolina running back had his best performance this year, rushing for a career-high 125 yards in a win over the Detroit Lions. His first two rushing attempts in the game were for 30 or more yards. Furthermore, the former Oklahoma State star scored the first touchdown of the game.
Meanwhile, Hubbard has an appealing matchup in Week 17. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have surrendered 97.4 rushing yards per game to running backs over their past five contests. Furthermore, they gave up a season-high 176 rushing yards to the Panthers in their Week 7 matchup.
