Pirates Designate Bryse Wilson For Assignment
2 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates designated right-hander Bryse Wilson for assignment on Wednesday to make room on the 40-man roster for the recently signed Jarlin Garcia. Wilson appeared in 25 games (20 starts) for the Bucs last season and went 3-9 with a 5.52 ERA (5.06 FIP), 1.42 WHIP and 15.5 percent strikeout rate over a career-high 115 2/3 innings pitched. In five big-league seasons, he has a 5.54 ERA (5.26 FIP), a 1.49 WHIP and a weak 15.7 percent strikeout rate in 232 1/3 innings over 56 appearances (43 starts) for the Pirates and Atlanta Braves. Wherever he lands next, the 25-year-old will likely begin the 2023 season in the minors.
