San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has had a solid 2022 season. The star receiver is coming off an outstanding performance last season, ending the year as the WR2 in half-PPR scoring.
This year the former South Carolina star is the WR30, averaging 11.4 fantasy points per game. He has missed three games this season due to various injuries.
Unfortunately, Samuel has missed the past two games with a knee injury he suffered in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Is Deebo Samuel Healthy Or Injured?
The star receiver hasn’t played since the matchup against the Buccaneers. When the injury occurred, fantasy players feared the worst. Samuel appeared to have suffered a severe knee injury, possibly a torn ACL. Instead, the former South Carolina star only sustained an MCL sprain.
San Francisco expected the veteran to miss a few weeks but didn’t place him on injured reserve. However, will the star receiver play on Sunday?
Earlier today, Kyle Shanahan said that Samuel could return to practice tomorrow.
If the star receiver plays this week, fantasy players should feel confident starting him, assuming he has no limitations. However, what should fantasy players do if Samuel can’t play in Week 17?
What Wide Receiver Should I Add Off The Waiver Wire?
Hopefully, fantasy players had prepared to be without the star receiver weeks ago and have replacement options on their bench. However, an excellent last-minute waiver wire target is Isaiah Hodgins. The second-year receiver is rostered in only 3% of ESPN leagues.
Over the past four weeks, he has averaged 12.8 fantasy points per game, making him the WR12 during that span. More importantly, the former Oregon State receiver has scored 12.9 or more fantasy points in three of those contests.
Last week Hodgins had the best performance of his career. The second-year receiver caught eight of 11 targets for 89 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings. The former Oregon State receiver ended Week 16 as the WR7 with 18.9 fantasy points.
Fantasy players would love to see Samuel play against the Las Vegas Raiders this week. However, Hodgins is an appealing last-minute replacement option.
