Tommy La Stella Designated For Assignment
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants designated infielder Tommy La Stella for assignment on Wednesday to make room on the 40-man roster for recently signed left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers. The 33-year-old veteran infielder only managed to play in a combined 136 games for the Giants over the last two years, hitting .245/.297/.380 with a .677 OPS, nine home runs, 41 RBI and 43 runs scored in 437 plate appearances. La Stella offers very little defensively as well, so he might have to settle for a minor-league deal on the open market if he's not claimed off waivers. In nine big-league seasons with the Giants, Braves, Cubs, Angels and A's, La Stella has hit .267/.337/.399 with a .736 OPS, 40 homers and 204 RBI in 667 games played.
