Is Chris Olave Hurt Or Healthy?
It has been a dazzling rookie campaign for New Orleans wide receiver Chris Olave. A first-round draft pick for the Saints, Olave has exceeded all expectations in 2022, logging 940 receiving yards and three TDs on 63 receptions. The numbers are even more impressive when you consider that he's spent the year with Andy Dalton playing quarterback for the Saints.
Unfortunately, Olave's stellar rookie campaign has ground to a halt in recent weeks. He logged a limited snap count in Week 15 action and failed to practice ahead of Week 16's matchup with the Cleveland Browns, a game that he eventually missed with the balky hamstring.
Chris Olave Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 17
Olave has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy managers this season and looks to be a blue-chip dynasty league asset. It's easy to imagine that the Saints feel the same way about their prized rookie, which means they will likely handle his hamstring injury with extreme caution.
His GMs will need to monitor his practice status throughout the week ahead of New Orleans' Week 17 date with the Philadelphia Eagles. If - and it appears to be a big if at this point - Olave is able to suit up, he'll draw a brutal matchup against a Philly squad that ranks first in the NFL in Pass Defense DVOA.
If Olave is unable to suit up, fellow Saints rookie Rashid Shaheed would fill in as the squad's WR1. Shaheed has proven himself to be a big-play threat in recent weeks and is a viable fantasy add for Olave managers.
