Cordarrelle Patterson was the 2021 Waiver-Wire Pick of the Year, topping 1,100 scrimmage yards, scoring 11 touchdowns, and finishing as the RB9 on the year.
Patterson picked up right where he left off in 2022, starting the year as the RB6 through the first three weeks and scoring three touchdowns in the first four games before landing on injured reserve for the following four weeks.
The 31-year-old from Tennessee has cooled off after a hot start to the season. Patterson is averaging just 7.9 points per game over the last seven weeks and is on the brink of being cut by many fantasy football managers. Should you drop Cordarrelle Patterson?

Is Cordarrelle Patterson A Fantasy Football RB3?
Patterson scored five rushing touchdowns in his first five games this year. The former wide receiver finished as a top-eight running back in three of those five games. Where Patterson has lost his fantasy glimmer from last year has been through the air. Atlanta's hybrid weapon has tallied just 13 receptions for 79 yards this year.
Rookie Tyler Allgeier has emerged as Atlanta's lead back. Over the past two weeks, Allgeier has out-touched the veteran 40-26 and has accumulated 253 scrimmage yards compared to Patterson's 83.
The Falcons' offense has been one of the worst in the league this year and doesn't provide much upside for Patterson to replicate his early-season success.
Can I Drop Cordarrelle Patterson in Fantasy Football?
Patterson racked up a season-low 17 rushing yards this past week against the Baltimore Ravens. The former Minnesota Viking notably was on the field for a season-low 37% of offensive snaps.
With this past week's loss, the Atlanta Falcons are eliminated from the postseason this year. Rookie Desmond Ridder has taken over the starting job under center and the Falcons may continue to invest in their future by giving rookie Tyler Allgeier a dominant share of the backfield.
With two weeks left in the season, Cordarrelle Patterson doesn't have much upside, but he's likely better than any running back available on your waivers.
Should I Start Cordarrelle Patterson in Week 17 Fantasy Football?
The Falcons face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17, who are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to running backs this year.
Without Caleb Huntley, there are enough touches to spread between both Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson this week.
Arizona offers a juicy enough matchup where Patterson could warrant flex spots in your fantasy lineup, despite taking a backseat to the rookie. Patterson's ceiling is low, given the split workload, but if you don't have a more attractive alternative, he's a capable starter in Week 17.
