Phillip Evans Agrees To Minor-League Deal With Arizona
2 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a minor-league deal with former New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Phillip Evans on Friday. The deal includes an invitation to major-league spring training next year. Evans didn't play in the big leagues at all in 2022 but has four years of experience at the top level with a career .231/.331/.319 slash line with a .651 OPS, six home runs, 27 RBI, 34 runs scored and two stolen bases in 353 plate appearances over 121 games played. The 30-year-old spent all of last season toiling at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the New York Yankees organization, and he hit .244/.310/.366 with nine long balls, 33 RBI, 45 runs scored and two stolen bases in 103 contests. Evans will merely serve as organizational depth in Arizona.
