ANALYSIS: Two players in the NBA have logged more minutes than Harrison Barnes this season while having a lower rostership than Barnes currently has. Crazy, isn't it? Well, it goes from crazy to bonkers considering Barnes is a top-100 fantasy player through Saturday in total FP scored to date.
This Barnes (age 30) is definitely not the hyped kid that was about to enter the league all the way back in the summer of 2012 and went on to disappoint a bit. Even then, though, Barnes is having a season on par with his career and actually better in some impact-cats.
Barnes is scoring fewer points than in years past with almost 14 PPG on the year, but he's pulling down boards (5+ RPG) and dishing out dimes (2.0 APG) at his career pace. Barnes is turning the ball over the fewest times in three seasons (1.4 TOPG) and tying his career-high of 0.8 SPG this year.
In Barnes' last nine games getting back to Nov. 30, he's dumped 10+ points every time while averaging 16 PPG and 1.6+ 3PM per game, and shooting 52.3% from the floor. Only once has Barnes finished a game shooting below 40% in that nine-game span.
Barnes' efficiency truly sucks, but that's basically because of his massive 32 MPG. What I'm saying is that he just makes up for the lack of efficiency with a brute-force approach to his game based on tons and tons of playing time. One of eight players averaging 5+ rebounds, 0.8+ steals, and 1.5+ APG with <1.5 TOPG.
