Carlos Rodon Lands Six-Year Deal From Yankees
2 years agoThe New York Yankees agreed to a six-year, $162 million deal with free-agent left-hander Carlos Rodon on Thursday. The deal include a full no-trade clause. Even after adding starters Sean Manaea and Ross Stripling, the Giants reportedly were still trying to re-sign Rodon. However, the Yankees always seemed like the favorites to land the back-to-back All-Star southpaw to upgrade the top of their rotation next to Gerrit Cole. The 30-year-old struggled with injuries and poor control before the 2021 season with the Chicago White Sox. In the last two years with Chicago and San Fran, Rodon has gone 27-13 with a 2.67 ERA (2.42 FIP), a 0.99 WHIP, a 33.9 percent strikeout rate and a 7.1 percent walk rate in 310 2/3 innings over 55 starts. The American League East and Yankee Stadium will present challenges, but Rodon has become a fantasy ace.
